+1 My workplace is a warehouse w/a long catwalk bordered by some rails. I locked my bike to the rail and hung the r/drop over the top of the rail. I'd come out after work and someone would have taken the bike and placed it on the walkway still locked to the rail. Harmless prank, but after a week straight it irritated me. So, I found a new place just inside the doorway. It's off to the side and not in the line of general traffic at quitting time. In over 9 mos not a single event of any tampering. I leave my lock attached to the lock-up place and it's never been bothered either.
