Thanks for all your input. After posting a I did a bit more research on the Sram 5 speed. That does look like a good option depending on where I can get it and how much it costs. It will have to be the hub only that needs to be replaced as the wheel is kind of specific to the design of the bike. I did not realize that the space between the dropouts was a factor, so thanks for bringing that to my attention.
