Because, if you haven't noticed lately, the price of CAAD's on ebay have been creeping very close to the crash replacement cost of a new frame. I'm not going through ebay for this frame and the price I was offered is undercutting the going rate on ebay by about $100, which is a lot when you're a budget racer and going to college in a few weeks.
