I'm leaning toward the Forerunner 305 so my wife can use it for running and I can use it for riding, but I can't pull the trigger because I keep getting distracted by the Edge 305. I mainly like the slightly larger display and altimeter in the Edge; but someone pointed out a workaround for the altimeter earlier in this thread so I guess it's just the display. Has anyone used both models or had direct experience with both? is the ability to display the extra fields on the Edge display worth the minor increase in bulk?
Bostonbullit - You might be my long lost twin brother. My old cateye is also flaking out and I'm currently using my wife's 201 for running. I was also debating the Edge 305 for the exact same reasons (primarily the altimeter because it is very hilly where I'm at). In the end, I decided on the forerunner yesterday because I wanted a heart rate monitor for both running and biking and didn't want to buy 2 computers right now. If I end up wanting a more cycling-specific computer in the future, I'll buy one down the road. It's not like the forerunner will be a waste since I'd still need it for running. It's certainly a running computer first, but makes very few concessions as a cycling computer from what I understand.
