What proprietary system are you talking about on the S-Works stuff? Isn't it just the regular ol' integrated headset?
The S-works transition uses a 1" top and 1 1/8" bottom headset, which is, although not proprietary, what I thought was first being talked about.

I guess my main beef w/ specialized is that I just don't like their bikes very much. Seem overpriced to me. I also don't really like Trek, and the 2 remind me a lot of each other.
The main difference with the warranty is that the first case involves a second owner. A bicycle warranty is only legally good for the original owner, it is non-transferrable. If Specialized knew that, and still honored the warranty, that's pretty nice. The fact that the bike is old doesn't matter, a warranty is good for the life of the bike (with some exceptions such as the Trek Session frame).

That being said, I've warrantied two frames and neither times did the shop check - they just took a picture of it before, then sawed in half, and I got a new frame quickly.

Also, how do the Trek and Specialized look like each other? The T1 looks like a completely different bike IMO...
