Try Negra Modelo and Bohemia, then. They both go well with mexican food.
Interestingly enough, in a book that I read about the evolution of American beer, Bohemia was mentioned as probably the closest thing to American beer prior to Prohibition. It's not a heavy beer, but has a good taste.
It's not necessary to have a huge beer every time you crack a bottle. There's a place for 100+ IBU IPA's and Imperial Stouts, but mid or directly following a big ride just doesn't seem like one of them to me.
One of the better beers I brewed was also one of the smallest. There's a lot to be said for an English Mild.
