Yes, DnvrFox you are getting old. Not only does that beat the alternative but it gives one a much clearer perspective on what is important and what is not. More important it means we are way past the time we have to worry about "proving ourselves". We can pick choose the things we expend on which we expend our energy.
As for me; I don't have much opportunity to ride with other mature riders. So most of my riding is done solo. I divide rides into three categories. First are Training Rides. These include my Spin Classes and are done for physical fitness with idea of not getting more years but putting more life in my years. Second, are my Social Rides. This week was one of the rare times I was able to do this kind of ride. These are my most important and fun times. Third are the Utliity Rides. These are using the bike for runs to the bank, supermarket, etc.
I do keep general track of ride statistics more in the mode of keeping track of my weight; not so much to compare with others as to keep track of me.
I'm a new rider. But, it has found its' way into my life in a very major way.
