I lived in Auburn for a few years in the late 1990s. If you are moving there from 200 miles away and don't own a huge amount of stuff that needs to be moved, I recommend something like PODS (portable on demand storage). They will drop off a "POD" (or more than one POD if you need it) and you fill it up with the stuff you want moved. The smallest POD is 8'x7'x7'. They come and pick up the POD and move it to Auburn. You show up in Auburn and badda bing, your stuff is there. It's safe, simple, and cheaper than most options involving renting a truck by yourself. They have bigger PODS if you need it, but you said there is not a lot of stuff to move.
Word of caution, I have biked all over eastern Alabama and know the streets of Auburn very well. Alabama roads, like many places in the deep south, have little to no shoulder. Be sure to pick your routes carefully to avoid those with heavy traffic. I rarely took the most direct route to get from A to B. My routes usually involved a loop or detour of some kind to get away from hazardous traffic zones. And the red dirt backroads of eastern Alabama became my friend. Also, carry some kind of canine spray like halt on the backroads, cause there are lots of critters on the loose. Good luck and I'm sure you will like living around Auburn, I did.
