What reason do you have to believe that LA will make a statement on Mt. Ventoux? He couldn't keep up with the big guns on a shorter cat 1 climb. Now you expect him to make a move after a tough week on an HC climb? Lance is a tough SOB, but he still has to have the legs for the big accellerations. Guts alone aren't going to do it.
There's nothing wrong with hoping and wishing for LA to do well. But to honestly think that he's going to "make a statement on Mt Ventoux", come on.
