Profile Design Century aero bar pad shift?

Hey!

I bought a set of Profile Design Century aerobars off of a person on craigslist for 20$. I wanted a set, and found a nice set on the cheap.

The original owner was a lady, so the pads are set a little too close together for a broader chested fellow. I can shift 'em out... somehow.

It looks like the only way to do it is to tear off the pad. Is that what you're supposed to do? I'm just a little hesitant in case I tear the pad by accident. Is there something simple I'm missing?

Thanks!
