I like to wear team jerseys because I am a fan and participant in the sport. I am excited about it. I get excited watching the riders on TV and feel the same same excitement climbing or descending at 46 mph.

I like to wear team jerseys because I like the design or I like the team. I think when you see a kid in the mall wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey, he is not saying that he thinks he Kobe, rather he is expressing excitement in Kobe's achievements or basketball in general. Same with cycling fans. Someone wearing an Astana jersey is celebrating the team accomplishments and not saying they are actually on the team.

Some sports have a more conservative dress like say golf. I think the exciting nature of cycling lends it towards bright colors and eye catching designs.
