I know that a manufacturer will sometimes swap components on their bikes due to availability of said parts, but usually it's an upgrade as to what is listed on their website/catalog.
Haro's current crop of bike ('02-'05) keep getting better and better. They've also stepped up their quality of "in-house" brand parts. Some things like brakes still need to be outsourced. I think you'll be more than happy with the Avid's.
