the last cracked Orbea Orca that i saw was the one that belonged to a fellow rider in 2007. he stopped for light, it cracked in half, and sadly he passed away some months later from complications caused by the crash. i wouldn't ride one if someone gave it to me for free, and then paid me to ride it...
That bike literally looks like it just disassembled itself - it's amazing how such a strong compound can be so weak under the right circumstance.
There's so much that can go wrong on a modern bike, I try to inspect before any ride. Wheels failing, frames cracking, bars coming off, chains snapping, etc. I know a lot of it can't be predicted, but I always try to check for these kinds of things before each ride. If nothing else, it provides me a little piece of mind.
