Hi all,

I'm looking to get into touring and have started a few threads on the touring page, but the idea of a cross bike is certainly tempting, I'll be doing one 3 week tour in Ireland next spring, but aside from that i'll be using it to commute and for fitness 15-30k per day tops, and maybe the odd camping trip.

I will be camping on the long tour so will need a bike that can take a loaded rear rack, I also like the option of front racks if possible.

Could anybody recommend an appropriate cross bike or should I stick with the out and out tourers?

Ive got a budget in the $1000-$1200 range but I'd be happy to spend much less (so would my wife!)
