I certainly don't take it that far, but I ask for a ride no more than about once a month, and the rest of the time I don't find myself going anywhere that it'd be convenient to get a ride with anyone. If the destination is less than five miles away (and for me, it usually is) riding a bike is convenient and it's rare that depending on someone for a ride could be as convenient.
