I recently moved to the Ottawa/Gatineau area and was amazed at how popular bicycle culture is here. Thousands of paths, you can safely get anywhere on a bicycle. I decided to buy a bicycle from the local Canadian tire and give it a shot. I fell in love with bicycle commuting for all the same reasons people fall in love with it. About less than a week ago I locked up my bicycle at an intersection of a main street and a high traffic street. I locked it up at a bicycle rack and left to go out for the night. The following day my bicycle was not there, I called the police and filed a report. The police officers told me the likelihood of them finding my bicycle is very dim. So the question is?

Is there any organizations or programs that connect people with donated bicycles? I need a bicycle, can't afford it as of now, what do I do?
