I have only done solo tours so I can't say too much about touring partners, except I would be open to riding with someone that was reasonably close to my "style" of touring.
The only thing I would add to the previous post is that I like to meet people on the road. I feel having a toruing bud may hamper this aspect of my tours. Some of my most memorable experences are the ones where paths have crossed and stories are shaired! Some times I meet total strangers and with in a few mins. they seem like lost friends.
