Hello all,
I have done lots of homework before this post. I have been to nearly all of the local bike shops in my area and asked many, many questions. I have been fitted and they all seem to say I need a 50cm. It seems like everyone I talk to outside of a bike shop thinks I would be better with a 52cm. I am 5'6" tall. I have decent knowledge of the different components, tire, and frame types. I have never ridden a road bike before and I am mainly interested in fitness and group rides to start with. I would eventually like to do charity rides and maybe some local races to challenge myself. I as well as every other newb would obviously like my first bike purchase to be a well rounded decision. I understand that building a relationship with my LBS is my best bet, but I do not believe I need to buy a bike from them to do that. I am looking at saving some money and purchasing from Bikesdirect.com. My LBS will get all of my service business and I have pretty much told them that. I would like to keep my budget inside of $700 if possible, but I could spend more if I just need to. I am not an "entry level" kind of guy with any purchase I make. With that said, I have been looking at a couple of bikes with one in particular in mind. I am aware that I will need to have my LBS do a tune up and maybe some adjustments after a few months as parts break in and ware. I am pretty confident that I can do some adjustments initially.

If you guys know of any better option or feel as if I should not purchase from Bikesdirect.com please feel free to chime in.
Thank you in advance.
