Some of the art on B17's and B29's was stunning.
I too like the personalization, and I think Cav's bike is way classier than say, Lance's butterfly bike.

Ok, Ok! In aircraft, you have to use hyphens: B-17, B-29, P-51, et cetera.
Spitfires had occasional customization ("The Borough of Lambeth" is the only concrete example I know of, I built a model of her).
