OK, here's a bike that I bought off Craig's List to use as a "grocery getter". In retrospect, I probably paid more than I should have...I paid $150 + $20 for a spare set of wheels (that I ended up not using), but there was enough wrong with the bike that it was really probably worth about $100.

The frame was in decent enough shape, but I swapped out most everything else for stuff I had in a spares bin or got cheap at a bike shop (except for the derailleurs, seatpost, and brake calipers) and built up a new set of wheels (Sun CR-18's on Mavic 501 hubs...I have a Mavic hub fetish). Took it for its inaugural spin tonight. It rides pretty nicely, though I probably should have gone for a 56cm frame instead of a 58 (which is what I normally ride), and I need to find some different tires. The Conti trail tires are nice for the bike path, but I think some 700x32 Pasela's would be a better choice. I also need to drill out the rear rim for Schraeder.

I'm hoping it's low-key enough to go unnoticed. The frame has some paint dings and decal scrapes, so it doesn't look like a bike worth stealing.
