Harry, I hear ya but the day of my crash no freezing conditions were predicted and conditions were such that cars traveling the road were turning light rain into slush, normally well traveled roads prevent slush not create it. So even if I had studded tires I'm not sure I would have had them on that day, which is what got me to thinking of a next best option that I could/would use when not needed.
