Onza H.O. http://www.bikepro.com/products/pedals/onza.html were my 1st.

They were one of the lightest clipless pedals at the time. Early 90s.
Its design was unique. It used elastomers instead of springs and used screws and plates setup
instead of pivots. It was more mud resistant than SPDs.

It kinda worked. Except it had a tendency to not release exactly when I
needed to get out in a hurry. On the other hand, it also had a tendency to unpredictably
release when I hammered or jumped. It was tricky in a nasty way.
It only seemed to work when it really didn't matter.
Sometimes twisting my ankle resulted in the discovery of my shoe locked to the pedal.
When that happened I was SOL doomed and hope of release was nada, zip, zilch and ouch happend.

I had to cut out part of the sole of my shoes around the cleats to improve release.
And had to file the edge of cleats and plates to make disengaging smoother.
After I did that these worked. Well sort of...
Sometimes the release delayed a bit and kept scaring the heck out of me.

An interesting engineering experiment. A curiosity. A deathtrap to its user.
I used them for like 3years. yeah, I was ignorant. Replaced them with a pair of SPD clones.
Man, what a difference they made. They were the ones that made me realize how great clipless are.
I wish I went with SPDs in the first place.
