I've sat down within a foot or two of a Skunk eating greens on my old "lawn." I used to live in a forest. As I approached slowly and spoke gently, Stinky would give me a glance and continued his/her meal. Never been sprayed.

Did you know their eyes light up like a cat's in bright-light at night? Cool!
