Because they fall in the same category as dork disks. Who in the world would want them.
This response speaks volumes of you, I asked why they went the way of the dinosaur, not what
you think is "cool." I have a few bikes with "dork disc" on them, and what? I don't care what you may think of the dork disc or the foam bar covers, I just asked/need honest opinions on why they are no longer used as my wife was nice enough to pick up a set, still in the package, with finger grips that I happen to think are the coolest thing I've seen in a bit.
