Those of us who considered ourselves hip cyclists would look down at people who had them, but there was really nothing wrong with them.
I suppose you could make your own out of pipe insulation.
I know a guy that did that! He had a Schwinn cruiser with those long "half moon" bars, it looked pretty cool! and he liked it so it was all good!
