My Trek 7.3 FX is parked in the bike rack outside. It's under a roof, but otherwise open for all. I secure the frame and front wheel to the rack with a U-lock. Usually, my helmet hangs on the U-lock as well. A cable lock secures the rear wheel to the frame.
