Went out to the garage, running right on time, I pulled my commute bike off the hook it hangs on, set it on the ground and the front wheel made that oh so special sound of a completely flat tire hitting the concrete.
Mmmmmmm, I was running out of time so being the clever guy I am, I hung her back up and pulled down my weekend road bike. Oh boy, I get to ride the carbon girl with the silly expensive wheels up the hill to work today.
Well, that was not to be, about two miles from home the rear derailleur commits suicide, how rude of it. Ok, I could nurse this baby for the next ten miles up hill to work or go back home and patch the tire on my commuter and start again……….I head home.
Don’t ya love it when you find the pin hole leak in a tube but can’t find the culprit that caused the leak. It just makes the ride that follows a bit different; you know, you keep expecting the tire to go flat again.
It held air and I flew out the door and set a blistering, for me, pace all the way up the hill to work and was only 30 minutes late. Yes, I had called and let my secretary know I would be late.
Hind sight………How come I did not just throw the front wheel from the carbon girl on my commuter………sheeeseh,
