Cannondale give a lifetime warranty on the frames to the original purchaser. May not help you, but at least it gives you an idea of the manufacturer's confidence.
I bought my first new Cannondale, R500, in 1986. I finally moved it to back-up in 2006 with the purchase of a new CAAD8 R900. Needless to say, I would go with the Cannondale and the higher end Ultegra components without hesitation. If you are not a bit handy with the tools, perhaps a new bike with extended service at the LBS is a better match!
But, of course, it is your $$$, not mine!
Buy one of them and get your butt in the saddle!
Cheers,
Geary
