I like converted road bikes. One of these days I fully intend to build a true track bike, but for riding around I'm more than content with my converted road. I can live without toe overlap, and for me the geometry is plenty tight enough. My Basso handles wonderfully, and hell, if I took a link out of my chain I could use my eccentric axle to get my wheel even closer in. I like where it's at, though. It's a fantastic bike, and I laugh at anyone who says I should be riding a track bike instead. There's room for both, I say.
Edit: Oh yeah - while not extensively, I have ridden a true track bike. I like it, but if I had to choose between the two for all my riding, it would be a road conversion hands down.
