I didn't ride our man down, we kept about 250 yards behind the break. I talked to our sprinter and we agreed that if I pushed the pace after the last time up the hill and false flat the other riders wouldn't be organized enough to attack and attempt a bridge up. When we turned into the wind with 2.5 miles to go our pack of about 25 had already split up and the remaining riders in our group were too much into the hole to mount an attack into the wind. The idea was to get him to the finish stretch within our group, weed out some other riders, and not have anyone else bridge to the front. Our guy is a great sprinter, but isn't that good at riding alone or on chases. He told me after the race that he almost was dropped after the last hill.
