It would be classified as a "wet" lube, which works well, but may attract a lot of dirt/grime/dust in a dry environment. Some prefer a "dry" (wax-like) lube for those conditions. The general idea is to keep the moving parts (chain joints, mostly) lubricated but to minimize the grit that gets in there and causes wear. You might consider wiping down the chain with a rag after each ride, and perhaps applying a bit of fresh lube while spinning the pedals/chain backward.
