contrasting fork is an option too. i appreciate the suggestion, but i think in that case, i'd consider doing the frame too, even though that would require significantly more work. i guess the real problem is that i've grown fond of raleigh champagne and want to match it as close as possible. all the paints i've tried don't even come close to the matching this color's subtleties. like how in different light conditions it appears to be a different color - at times more gray and others more golden. very fine indeed.
