There are deer and turkeys that hang out at the fastest part of my favorite ride (44 mph) on a downhill run. I usually keep my hands off the brakes, but I'm Mr. Eagle Eye on the approach. I've had both cross the road in front of me, and it certainly gets your attention (and quick action on the brakes).
They're as common as weeds around here. I was yelling at them both yesterday as I approached hoping they'd run off into the woods ...... Just stared at me as they munched on breakfast.
Deer around here are usually in groups of 2 or 3, so always watch out for a second or third after you dodge the first.
