Ditto on the advice so far. I wouldnt mess with the hub if I didn't have to. But......
If the hub is new to you, or you intend to ride it for a long time, it would probably be a good idea to disassemble, clean, inspect all the little gizmos, and regrease/lube it before the first time out. Better to catch any hardened grease, rust, or bad springs BEFORE you're out riding, eh?
Glenns bike repair manual has an excellent section on the SA hub disassembly/reassembly.
