I'm not using an Alps pad, but have been real happy with my Pacific Outdoor Equipment Ether Thermo 6 inflatable pad. Packs real small and weighs much less at 21oz. A little more money, though.

I've also tried bubble wrap. It's ultra light and ultra cheap and ultra uncomfortable.
