Bontrager Maverick Rim Failure

Just a warning to anyone out there considering new rims, be cautious of Bontrager Maverick rims!

We don't get on here much so I don't know if this has been discussed before but we just had Andrew's back rim fail after a mere 2,000 miles of loaded touring. By comparison, our not overly expensive Alex Rims and Alessa Apollo Rims (purchased in Iran over 16,000 miles ago) are still going strong.

Happily we weren't far from a decent bike shop and we are replacing the rim right now but the folks there say they've had no end of Bontrager rim failures this summer, most of which have been replaced under warranty if you have a few days to wait for the bike shop to fight your case. We don't, so we're shelling out $100 for a new rim, which hopefully will get us home.
