I retaliate by calling out leaves on the road "Leaf!", houses, clouds overhead, etc.
Every time (it seems) that someone calls out "Clear!" after riding through an intersection, I almost get creamed by an unexpected car. I think I'm much better off using my own senses, rather than listening to someone else.
Personally, I get mad when people fail to call out a significant bump or hole if I'm right on their tail. But the relentless "car up" and "car back" thing drives me crazy.
