the fan is at the center of the top yes... its smaller than a quarter.... runs on two AAA batteries and they claim a pair of batteries will last multiple seasons using mostly the low setting.. I had to replace the batteries already, but these are an 04 model and who knows how long they have been around.. I seldom use the hi setting for anything... even walking into the house after my ride with them still on and fan on lo I do not fog....
