Totally off-topic but...as much as I love the late, great Sheldon, I think he was all wet on that one. Especially after reading Berto's "The Dancing Chain". Yes dérailleur is a French word (and so are about 50% of the rest of the words in the English language otherwise it would look a lot like Dutch) and yes I understand his logic for wanting to spell it derailer but I deal in bicycles not trains and dérailleurs were essentially French things (Brits and Germans had internally geared hubs, Americans had single speeds with coaster brakes, Italians had totally weird stuff) so the French spelling with or without the "é" seems appropriate. You don't order snails at the restaurant right? You order escargot.
