We cleaned the rotor as well as we could, but we didn't have any kind of solvent. I'll try to find some acetone and give that a go.

How bad are the brakes with new pads? Maybe they just need to get broken in. We'll plan on taking off tomorrow and see how they go. If they still don't work right, we'll work on them in the next town.
