Interesting stuff. I still think it's odd that Reynolds would have a bunch of stickers all saying different things about the stays of they didn't mean that. Using words like tapered stays, butted stays, ultra high tensil stays etc only to use straight gauge regardless what it said...but I also now think you guys are right!!!
