It's as much a personal choice as buying locally grown produce or fair trade coffee - why get your panties in a bunch? I work for Ford Motor so buying US products obviously hits close to home.

I do feel that the OP could have been a little more tactful "do not want my frame to have ever touched Taiwan" seems offensive to me (my father was from Taiwan) and ignores the real violator of human rights, etc PRC.

BTW, Taiwan is very close to being on par with Japan and the rest of the first world in terms of living standards, quality of products, adherence to international laws and conventions on pollution, human rights, Intellectual Property, etc....
hell... taipei living standards far exceed those in NYC on average. whoever still believes that taiwan is a third world country or likewise is sadly mistaken. they got water dispensers that talk to you and toilets that have prettier light shows than seaworld (true story).

and to the post above... china != taiwan
