4 % is actually a good tough grade. Remeber, half the stuff you read on the forums is BS. 15 mile 20% grades!
I say ride everyday if you can. On days you feel good, lift the pace a LITTLE bit. But make use you have enough gas to make it. On days you don't feel so good, just make it even if you have to crawl. It's the effort that makes you stronger, not the clock.
On a day you don't have it, turn back home. But I bet once you get home you say,"I still feel good, I bet I could have made it". Then the next time you feel that way, you will do it knowing what you know!
