On a few occasions I must really convince myself to ride, and every time, after a mile, I feel totally good to go, not always full power, but feel good to complete a designated route.

Every day if possible. Even think about it when you can not, it helps.

When I was traveling for work, I would think about it, then I started to take a bike with me, (with front wheel remove it fit in bed of truck under hard tonneau cover.

Hills are good, unfortunately, since you are going down hill half the time you should consider riding twice the distance
