I have both the Champlains and a set of the LaSalles. They not only have the typical hooks and a strong spring loaded cord for attachment but also have a locking bar on the top which ensures they won't come off. I have put a bunch of miles on mine over some very rugged terrain and never had a problem. Machka will probably chime in here and tell you how many thousands of km's she used her LaSalles

Don't get me wrong, the Ortliebs are very nice but alot more $. But why choose, just buy a set of both.
