If you go to VP3 you have to go to the chinatown ice cream factory. it's right around the corner and their mango is awesome. Great t-shirts, too. Ah... VP3. How I miss thee...

I like the food at Acme - great sweat potato fries, great corn bread, great veg burger. More kinds of hot sauce than you can fathom.

Kate's Joint receives mixed reviews, but I like the idea of being able to eat a vegan clubhouse while listening to Deerhoof records. If this scenario appeals to you, you might like it too.

I was sad when the downtown location of the Uptown Juice Bar closed. Any NY'er who is a) vegetarian or b) vegan or c) not dumb should make the trek to 125th to hook it up at the Harlem location. I have fond memories of walking over the Brklyn Bridge at around 9am to Manhattan and chowing down on a tub of curried pumpkin and butternut squash.

There's that little hole in the wall falafel place on st mark's near mondo kim's and dojo that has some of the best falafel I've had. Their spinach pies kick ass too.

Also, Grilled Cheese in the lower east side is worth a visit if you like grilled cheese sandwiches. And who doesn't like grilled cheese sandwiches?
