I filter on the right if it doesn't look like I am going to make the next green light cycle or if I am going to take a right on red. If my right side filtering is blocked for whatever reason (and yes, there have been times that it was a vehicle purposely blocking me), I will filter on the left.

I can honestly say that I have never thought of it this way. I usually block vehicles from trying to get along side of me and setting themselves up to pass me in the intersection, unless they are trying to turn right on red. In that case, I will do what I can to move left and let them make the right turn.

Anyway, I never feel bad about filtering. My position is that we both have an equal right to be on the road. I may be inconveniencing them by not being able to reach the speeds they are driving, but when traffic is backed up at intersections, their big, fat cars are inconveniencing me. They pass me because I can not go fast enough, and I pass them because their cars are too fat.
