The closest REI to me is 325 miles away.

I've checked the bike shops here in town (there are six) and the average lowest price for a road bike is $720 with the lowest price for a Fuji Newest (I'll assume the 4.0 from the price) at $450.

Anyone care to comment on the Fuji Newest? Pros? Cons?
