I purchased my Joannou Road Racer summer 1970 in Charleston SC at a Schwin dealer for $150. It had all steel alloy components, 10 speed w/ 1 1/4 x 27 inch wheels. My understanding is that Jamis imported them in the late 60's thru mid to late 70's. They were about the best to be had short of a Shwinn Paramount at the time. Thru the years I've replaced every component except the seat post and front sprocket assembly. I just finished a rebuild today and will be riding it again tomorrow, as I have, on and off, for the last 39 years. For a 70's era non-lugged frame, it is tough. I currently have 1" rims & tires and an Off road handlebar setup w/ Schwinn indexed shifters (carpel tunnel & droop bars don't go together). I keep the headbadge in my office desk for safekeeping.
