Southampton, Long Island
Saturday, August 22 '09:
Good ride around the Flying Point Beach area of Southampton today. The day started out looking miserable, weatherwise, but a friend convinced us to head out east and chance that Hurricane Bill wasn't going to screw up the whole weekend.
The day turned out to be a perfect blend of very hot sun and frequent, refreshing breezes. Also, the surf being kicked up by the storm was mind-blowing to watch at certain points in the day.
Anyway, the roads out there, particularly Flying Point Road, are pretty good for beach-hopping. Of course, we are just summer homeless riff-raff, so we didn't get to do the whole Hamptons scene. But the ride was still very enjoyable. I can't recommend a specific route, but if anybody still has an opportunity to get out there this summer, I'd give it a three-quarter-assed recommendation!
